IBM、AIの未来を築く世界の女性リーダー賞の受賞者を発表

IBMはAI分野における女性リーダーの年次プログラムの一環である、AI分野における女性リーダー賞の受賞者を発表した。これは業界を問わず、IBM Watsonを活用し、変革や成長、イノベーションの促進に貢献した女性を表彰するもので、今年は18ヵ国、The Clorox Companyや City of Austin, The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, EY, Ford Motor Company, ServiceNowなど様々な企業から40名の女性リーダーが選出された。
新型コロナウイルス感染症の感染拡大が働く女性に与える影響がより顕著に表れる中、AI分野における多様な人材を称え、インクルージョンな文化を築くことは非常に重要なことだ。最新のIBM Institute for Business Value studyによると、新型コロナウイルス感染症の感染拡大によって働く女性が様々な問題に直面していることが表面化したにもかかわらず、世界の７割の企業で性別による不平等性を最優先課題としていないことがわかったという。また、2020年は2019年と比較して、シニア・バイス・プレジデントやバイス・プレジデント、ダイレクター/マネージャーなどの女性管理職が減少したとの調査報告があった。
AI分野における女性リーダープログラムは、2019年、IBMがAI分野での多様な人材の参加の向上と受賞者が共有して学べるネットワークを提供することを目的として創設。今年は、自然言語処理やオートメーション、信頼できるAIなどの技術領域での進化が目立ち、より的確な結果の予測や業務の自動化、新たな効率創出のために活用されているという。
IBMのCloud and Cognitive SoftwareのExpert Labs, Vice Presidentのリティカ・ガンナー（Ritika Gunnar）氏は次のように述べている。「AIの導入は加速を続け、信頼できるAIの開発や導入を率いる多様性をもったチームは、バイアスを緩和し、説明可能な結果を導く手助けをしてくれるでしょう。本日私たちは、ビジネスにおけるAI技術のさらなる道を切り開き、人々の仕事や生活に多大な影響をもたらしている40名の女性の素晴らしい体験談を共有します。世界中が職場環境や労働力の変化に直面する中、AIの最前線で働く女性や多様性のあるチームが私たちには必要です」
